The votes are in and the best brew in Southport, as voted by you, is……Tapper’s café on Union Street! It is a timely win as this week Tapper’s celebrates 7 glorious years on Southport and they have gone from strength and earned a place in people’s hearts.
The ballot papers were counted and the winner came out as this brilliant café, run by sisters Sarah and Catherine. Celebrating seven successful years in Southport, Tapper’s has become a much-loved hidden gem that deserves a place in your heart! They serve a brilliant cup of coffee in a gorgeous setting, with a friendly welcoming team. Aside from the great coffee, what else can you expect? A menu packed with delicious food cooked fresh using local ingredients including their trademark bagels (which are something else) and wonderful, fresh, filling salads. Did we mention the cakes? A close second in the vote was A Great Little Place. This award-winning café works to make a positive difference to people with Autism. Serving up locally roasted artisan coffee delivered by trained baristas and expertly made by their own blend of traditional flame roasted coffee beans from Fair Trade providers across the world. And you have options – visit their bustling Hoghton Street branch for lunch, get coffee to go from their deli on London Street or relax at their Ramada Hotel branch during the summer months (our got to meeting spot – any excuse). As they say, great coffee, great food and for a great cause – could you ask for any more?
Yes, we know they do gin. We love the gin. But head to Remedy in the morning begore gin o’clock and you will be greeted by a bank of amazing handmade cakes – all to be enjoyed with an amazing coffee. Did you know they do take away? Break the habit of grabbing your pre-work caffeine fix from the same old chain across the road – Remedy will see you right (We’re all about keeping it independent after all). With a new chef on-board and an exciting new menu coming Remedy is definitely far more than the gin.
Le Boulevard, the #3 Southport restaurant on Trip Advisor, is a brilliant little place in Cambridge Arcade, that if you have been passing but not stopping in you are missing out on. Run by friendly owners offering personal service and delicious handmade food, Le Boulevard will win you over instantly. People watch from their outdoor seating and watch the world pass by with a fresh coffee or enjoy a superb lunch in cosy surroundings.
