Live music feeds the soul and lifts the spirits, and after nearly six months without it we are more than ready for some!  The good news is that, with restrictions easing, some of our favourite venues are bringing live music back for the Bank Holiday.  There are some great original and tribute acts on across the town all weekend – and even a little opera thrown in!

Read on to find out what’s on where with our guide below – but remember, wherever you head to please make sure you are following distancing guidelines and keeping each other safe

 

Rock on

 

The Chop House, Southport’s unmissable bar for rock music fans, is back to doing what they do best – outstanding live music. The team have a Bank Holiday packed with amazing live bands for you, all ready to rock!

The line up looks something like this:

 

Friday – Xander & The Peace Pirates

Saturday – Bone Shaker The Band.

Sunday – Problem Child – North West

 

Bands on from 10pm, get a space from 8.45pm

The Chop House, Scarisbrick Avenue

 

Or for some vintage ‘Rock & Roll’ – then how about catching the Bravado’s live at Cooper’s Bar on Leicester Street from Saturday at 9pm?  Punch Tarmey’s are also hosting live acoustic music courtesy of Mike Gaskell from 8pm

Local Legends

 

There are some leading tribute acts belting out classics all weekend, for those of you who miss a good sing along.

The Hungry Monk are serving up two live sets – Joey Linden will bring the powerful vocals of Freddie Mercury this Friday and The Merzeeze’s bring the 60’s back with some classic Beatles on Saturday.

For a bit of Elvis, then Sunday night at the Cheshire Lines is the place to go with a live performances between 5pm and 9pm.  For something very different sit back and listen to the music, how about a night of Pure Paloma at the RA bar?

Enjoy opera by candlelight and tapas at Cooper’s Bar

…and about that Opera

 

Yes, you heard us right, there is set to be a night of Opera by Candlelight at Cooper’s Bar and it sounds sublime.

Spend your Bank Holiday Monday immersed in the amazing vocals of tenor vocalist David Marshall singing opera and songs from the shows. Make your night complete with some tapas to share.

The Great Outdoors

The Chesh are also over the moon to welcome back The Happy Pluckers to kick start your Bank Holiday weekend with a super fun filled Friday evening in the evening sun.  Head to their gorgeous hidden beer garden for what is guaranteed to be an interactive performance that will make you laugh your socks off.

Tomorrow from 8.30pm

On Sunday, you can enjoy live music all afternoon from 1.30pm at Remedy.  SIt and enjoy the world go by along Lord Street with some good gin (or coffee – it is the Sabbath after all).

The Windmill is also putting on an afternoon of music for the whole family with their very own Drew Mac live in their fantastic socially distanced beer garden, playing great easy listening music to help your Bank Holiday along.

Help keep the music going

All our venue owners are working incredibly hard to operate their venues in line with all current guidelines to keep both you and their staff safe.  Wherever you choose to spend and enjoy your Bank Holiday weekend – please make sure you respect the guidlelines, enjoy the event safely and most of all respect the staff whose job it is to ensure they are followed.  If we all work together to keep each other safe we will be able to make sure the msuic keeps playing and more and more events can happen soon #staysafe
